Q Kitchen
Portraits and community
Q Kitchen has become a haven for queer newcomers to the Netherlands and a place of connection with the wider community. Around food, conversation, celebration and performance, people find welcome and build relationships. My photographs attend to the individuals and the shared life around them. The portraits and documentary moments show different aspects of that belonging; some encounters also became part of The Radical Act of Just Being.

Portraits at Q Kitchen
Individual portraits, couples and friends: a quiet pose, a shared joke, a touch or a theatrical gesture. I draw the energy of the gathering into the portrait.

The community around them
Eating together, listening, talking and performing. These documentary photographs move through the life of the room, from quieter exchanges to moments shared with the whole gathering.
